(Formerly Camire's Athletic Soles)
The "Perfect Fit" Process
We want you to tell us everything from opinions of your previous shoes to small, nagging injuries to doctor diagnosed or corrected injuries. All of this information will help us to hand select the best shoes for you.
2. Watch the walk
It's all about the walk, so make sure to come in prepared to walk the blue carpet. Our goal is to keep your foot strike through the center. Some people do this naturally, others need the help of built-in support. By getting low to the ground and observing the mechanics of your walk, we can determine the best amount of support for you.
3. Pull a shoe, then maybe a few more
With the information we have gathered from your walk and the information you have told us, we will pull a couple shoes for you to try. This is the perfect time to take them for a spin around the store and to voice your opinions about how the shoe feels on your foot. We will listen to these opinions and make further recommendations until we have found the shoe that is not only perfect for your walk, but is also the perfect feel for you.
4. Further recommendations
Remember those injuries you told us about? Well we have various products in the store which can help to prevent and recover from injuries. We will also have tips on free relief techniques which can be done at home to aid in injury relief.
Keith “The Boss”
He has been running so long that it makes him seem 20 years older than he really is. After earning a M.S. in Exercise Physiology, he used his knowledge to devise torture protocols for athletes in the lab and on the road. For the past decade or so he has become a kinder human, choosing instead to help people find the right shoe and avoid injury. In fact, Keith enjoyed it so much that he decided to put a ring on it and make himself the boss of Wakefield Running Company.
Debbie “The Real Boss”
Debbie, a cold-blooded numbers killer, keeps things afloat behind the scenes. She is in her 14th year of devoting her life to helping us runners with our mountain of problems. Like a magician, she will never divulge her secret about fitting shoes and fixing injuries. Nevertheless, it has been rumored that she has had a line out the door waiting just for her endless knowledge.
Ben “The Charmer” G.
A recent graduate of SKHS, Ben has been working at Wakefield Running Company for over 2 years. Formerly, Ben was the XC captain where running became a lifelong passion. When Ben isn’t running, he can be found talking about running or rock climbing… sometimes both at the same time!
Ben “The Other Ben” S.
After over 10 years working at our sister store, Ben decided to go to the dark side and work for major shoe companies. We were able to lure him back to the light side with cookies and a shiny fiddle made of gold. Since then, he’s been pretty attached to that fiddle, but when he’s not playin’ it hot, he’s a wiz at fitting shoes.
